TED Talks: Bjorn Lomborg

This was the first TED talks video I ever saw. I was reminded of it by JT's insight regarding the life safers because Lomborg asks the important question of if we are only going to spend so much money on saving the world where should that money go?

You must def have to check out the new 5 Euro commerative coin, designed to
celebrate the theme of "Netherlands and Architecture." The winner coin of the
competition was designed by Stani Michiels [using entirelyfree software], depicts
an image of the Queen of Netherland on the front made up of the names of
famous Dutch architects.

The back side of the coin is made up by a collection of influentialarchitecture
books by Dutch architects and/or about Dutch architecture, allpointing inward on
the coin to create a central void - an abstraction of the city skyline as well as a
rough profile of the country.

The designer also has a personal blog with an extensive description of the design process
as well as more pictures of the coin.

Election Night in Harlem

Onion: "Black Man Given Nation's Worst Job"

"WASHINGTON—African-American man Barack Obama, 47, was given the least-desirable job in the entire country Tuesday when he was elected president of the United States of America. In his new high-stress, low-reward position, Obama will be charged with such tasks as completely overhauling the nation's broken-down economy, repairing the crumbling infrastructure, and generally having to please more than 300 million Americans and cater to their every whim on a daily basis. As part of his duties, the black man will have to spend four to eight years cleaning up the messes other people left behind. The job comes with such intense scrutiny and so certain a guarantee of failure that only one other person even bothered applying for it.. .. ."

Controlling a Computer with your Brain is already Reality

It not completely tweaked up, but its a pretty interesting assessment of what is in store for the future. The computer measures the electric charges from the brain to figure out what you want the computer to do. Plus if you watch the video you will see a Monkey controlling a robotic arm with his mind.
