The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars by David Bowie is an older cd (1972), but it is an important one in musical history.   One of the most interesting things about this cd is the creative persona of Ziggy Stardust, an androgynous rock star from outer space.  This sets up an interesting phenomena which occurs in modern pop music, where an artist feels they must invent another person in order to reach elated levels of creativity.  This cd  was also significant for Bowie; it takes the harder rock of The Man Who Sold The World , and brings it to a level of pop music (a foreshadow of arena rock of the 80s).  The songs that stand out quickly are "Star","Five Years", "Ziggy Stardust,"and"Sufferagete City".
