Music Review: The Hush Sound Comes in Loud!

Although they are young Illinois teenagers, The Hush Sound's sophomore album Like Vines speaks much louder than their age. Released on Fall Out Boy's bassists' Pete Wentz's label Decaydance (a branch off of Fueled By Ramen which also is home to Panic! At The Disco), this indie-rock gem is sure to sooth you and move you like no other release this year. The band is simple: catchy choruses and unforgettable hooks (both instrumental and melodic) to reel you in. The icing on the cake is the outstanding showboat piano playing of Greta Salpeter that makes you feel like you are in the 20's. Both jazz and ragtime style stand out in her playing and make the music glisten. The songs range from mid-rock, power pop monsters to delectable mellow ballads. The album is sure to please...which is why I give it 8.5 out of 10. Greta's voice can get very whiny and does resemble the vocals of Eisley's Sherri Dupree which tends to irritate me at times. But all in all, the album is a MUST HAVE! This album is a must for fans of Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, Straylight Run, and Eisley. Take a Listen Here for some songs from the album and you be the judge...
