A Time For Unity
Tonight is a time for celebration for Obama and his millions of supporters on this historic night. Tomorrow is time for unity. While anybody who follows CR or is familiar with me knows I do not believe that the policies supported by Obama are best for America I also do not believe that excessive partisanship is good for America. I believe that not just out of respect for a distinguished and capable man but out of reverence for our country and democratic system this is the time to stand behind the President Elect. The country has spoken. While I will continue to fight for the ideas I believe in it will be as an American united behind one man President Barack Obama.

That was big of you mr
That was big of you mr andrew. and i just wanna say that i thought Johns speech was a great speech and showed how classy of a man he is.
you had me at 'tonight'
you had me at 'tonight' andrew.
i think after America
i think after America watched this speech they secretly thought "oh shit what did we do?"
I don't know about that, but
I don't know about that, but I bet things would have been different if he always sounded like he did last night.
man you hit the nail right
man you hit the nail right on the head, the way he spoke last night was how he started his campaign, real genuine, and its sad that he wasnt like that the entire b/c i think people would have looked at him a lot differently and the election might have been completely different.
The problem was the affinity
like ed says, i don't know
like ed says, i don't know about that jim...at least every single person i have met in the northeast doesn't feel that way (i'm not lying on this either, last night was like a huge city-wide party)...
however most democrats up here, myself included, agree that mccain's concession was pure class, and i think his message of 'country first' came through the strongest last night when he put his own ambitions aside to try to urge unity for the sake of the USA...and it was a kind of return of the old mccain that was so endearing before the sorcery of the campaigning season reached the level of craziness that it did...i think that mccain would have done better in the general election and i do hope that this mccain has some role to play yet in shaping american policy...
that being said, i am very happy with the result and congrats to mr. obama and godspeed (anyone remember that canadian post-rock band called 'godspeed you! black emperor'...? just a thought...
well i would say that most
well i would say that most people probably agree with you (especially in the northeast) but I bet there are still alot of swing voters across the country with that thought. yes it was definitely pure class and I hope that he does still have some role to play for America. Actually, Obama would be smart to reach out to him in some way. Oh and Godspeed? eeekk
