Freedom of speech is being attacked all over the place recently.  D-NY Senator Schumer is one of the biggest proponents of the "Fairness" doctrine which basically argues that since airwaves are technically a public resource that the gov't should be allowed to regulate political speech that private radio stations broadcast.  The pratical implication of this is to require talk radio which is currently overwhelmingly conservative to broadcast liberal viewpoints as well despite being non gov't based for profit institutions.  The danger is that a majority party could use such regulation to silence the opposition like has recently been done in Russia, Venezuela and by Ortega in Nicaragua.
